Round two of gift drawing

Mon Apr 27, 2009, 3:36 PM
So the last time I really drew a full blown picture was around Christmas of 2007. It was a gift, fully framed and everything, for Brandon. Now his birthday is coming up at the end of May, and I've basically run out of ideas for gifts ($1200 laptop being the most recent...what more could he want??), so I think I'm going to resort back to drawing for this gift. My main problem is that I have no idea what to draw and I almost feel like I forgot how to draw altogether. haha. I'm sure once I start I'll be able to pick it right back up, but I still don't know what to do.

My only idea is something depicting the time we've spent in Seattle together. This last year has been the so-called "ultimate test" of our relationship, as we moved in together and to a completely different state where we knew nobody but each other. It doesn't really seem like a big test to me, but I guess it's a big deal nonetheless and we proved that we're able to stand living with each other and being around one another for the majority of the day. Hell, I feel like I still don't see him enough! Haha.

So yeahhhh that's my only idea. It seems like a good enough idea to me once I further develop it. The picture I drew for him around Christmas kind of followed the same idea. We had only been together for six months and the picture basically showed everything we'd been through since then (good stuff of course). So I think it would be cool to continue with that idea and kind of scrapbook our relationship via art and maybe if we end up getting a house together sometime in the future we can hang up all the pictures on the wall. I think the artwork would say a lot more, and definitely mean a lot more, than random snapshots of stuff we've done. With this, it will fully embody not just what we've seen and done, but also depict the feelings that came with it and my interpretation of it as a whole.

Wish me luck!

I truly can draw a lot better than my gallery indicates. Actually...I only have one drawing in my gallery now that I think about it. Hmm. I just never post anything and really never have time to draw anymore for that matter. I also somewhat enjoy photography. I really suck at it and most of my posted photos are just taken with my digital camera. I do have a better manual film camera, but I never post pictures taken with that because my scanner fails. Anyway, I don't know what the point of this was. I guess just a long defense of my failure gallery?? Lawlzzzz.

Hahahaha yeah that thing hasn't been touched in like six years haha. You should have got it dry cleaned before you wore it because it probably reeked of cigarettes and dust. You don't have to get it cleaned though. I don't really care haha.

Haha okay that's good. I'm sure you wouldn't want to smell like six years of rotting dress at the dance.
